Tankarmor Installation

(Installation shown is for 641/2 through 1968 Mustangs and 1967 through 1968 Cougar automobiles)

WARNING: Do not smoke during this procedure for obvious reasons!

Carpeting
Remove the carpeting and pad from the trunk.

Inspection
Inspect the tank for damage and replace if necessary.

Filler hose
Loosen the filler hose clamps.

Remove
Remove the filler hose, filler tube, and cover the tank opening with tape to keep debris from falling into the tank. Inspect all filler components for damage and replace if necessary.

Screws
Remove the sheet metal screws securing the tank.

Drill
Drill out the mounting holes with a 1/4 inch drill.

Vacuum
Vacuum any debris from the trunk area.

Insulating strips
Apply the insulating strips across the high ridges of the tank.

Gasket
Install the gasket. (included)

Gasket installed
Once the gasket is installed, inspect the tank once again to ensure that there are no screws or other debris.

Install
Lay the tankarmor plate over the top of the tank.

Mounting hardware.
Place all of the bolts (included) in the mounting holes.

Muffin break
Have some Antioch Mustang Stable muffins. (available separately)

Remove
Install flat washers, lock washers, and nuts from underneath the car.

Filler hose
Remove the tape from the tank opening and reinstall the filler hose.

Filler tube
Reinstall the filler tube.

Tighten
Tighten the hose clamps.

Reinstall
Reinstall the external filler tube components.

Finished
You're done!  Now you can reinstall your carpeting, or leave your Tankarmor exposed.
